Taylor Harvey Band: News

A very personal note... - June 18, 2010

The last few months have seen me faced with some choices I never thought I'd have to make, but life is like that sometimes and I find myself making some huge changes. I'll be playing two more Sunday's, June 20th and 27th, at the Plank in Imperial Beach, and then I'll be leaving San Diego. I've loved being here and playing with all the great people I've gotten to play with and all the people I've gotten to play for. I've played this town from the dive bars to the big stages and I've loved every minute of it. My heartfelt thanks go out to all those who've lent their inspired talents to my songs, and special thanks go to Steve Langdon, Jeff Sers, Joey Harris, Jerry Raney and the late Buddy Blue. The music won't stop, but the venues will change. Stay tuned here for whatever comes next, and thanks for being part of what's happened so far.

Taylor

into each life a little rain must fall.... - May 10, 2010

After three months of hardship, Taylor finally went to a throat specialist for an examination. A growth was found and Taylor will undergo surgery to remove it tomorrow afternoon, after which he'll rehab his vocal chords for about 6 weeks. The show will go on, with Jeff Weiss picking up the slack until Taylor gets back. Please continue to show your support! We hope to see you soon!

goodbye and hello... - April 30, 2010

It is with a heavy heart that we bid a fond farewell to Mike Chandler. "Mailman" Mike spent 5 years putting down a solid bass groove for the band but has now moved on for personal/family reasons. He leaves with our love, respect and full support. Thanks, Mike, for a job well done!

Enter Mike Callan! The "New" Mike is making a smooth transition into the band. He's played with plenty of San Diego bands over the years and has spent some time gigging with Artie, so we're expecting good things from him. Come on down to Don's on May 14/15 and say hello. Full steam ahead!

Curious about the new guys? - March 31, 2010

Wanna put a face with a name? See pictures of Drummer Artie McAvoy and Guitarist Victor Gross on the Photos page! We'll get more pictures up as time goes by; these were taken at Cheers! in Ramona last weekend.

headin' for the hills! - March 25, 2010

That's right, tomorrow the band loads up and heads back to Cheers! in Ramona! It's been a couple years since we've played this legendary bar and it'll be good to get back up there and play for the great people there. We hope to see some old friends and make some new ones. Many thanks to Sean for having us back and we hope to see you there!

breaking news!!! - February 18, 2010

Due to an unexpected turn of events, the THB will be at Don's Cocktail Lounge this weekend, February 19 & 20! The call came early today and we hope you can make it out to meet Victor and Artie. Info on the calendar page.

great first gig in the books! - February 15, 2010

Well, Taylor, Mike, Vic and Arte came out of the studio and went up the hill to Ramona to play last Friday at the Par Lounge at San Vicente Resort and the results were exciting! The guys were tight and spirits were high and the music sounded great! The guys are now putting their energy into preparing for Don's on the 26 and 27th and they hope to see you there!

Full steam ahead! - January 20, 2010

The trial and error process of finding the right combination of players has finally paid off! I believe the addition of Victor Gross on guitar and Artie "Time" McAvoy on drums will take the THB to the next level. These are both great players, and not just musical players. They are both great team players and I feel better about the future of the Taylor Harvey Band then I have in several years. I hope you'll come out to a gig soon and hear the difference these gentlemen are making in our sound and welcome them to the band. As you might expect, there's a lot of ground to cover here, so you might want to shoot us an Email with you favorite THB song so we can have it ready for you. As always, thanks so much for your support!

Hey all... - January 10, 2010

I've got a real good feeling about the people playing this music now, and I hope they hang around for a while. No one feels the need to get back to the studio and recording more than I do, and I'm doing all I can to make that happen. Check back here in the coming days as we finalize a line-up and forge ahead and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.

TH

easy come, easy go... - November 24, 2009

The search for a lead guitar player goes on.

after an exhausting search... - November 21, 2009

We'd like to introduce you to the new members of the THB! On drums is Ron Haslam. Ron is steady as can be and does his homework. He teaches drums and does studio work and there are a few bands that will be disappointed he joined up with us. Ronnie Tye is a lead guitarist with a signature sound that will make the new CD easy to listen to. You may have heard his last band, BubbaJam, around town playing their rockin' blues. We welcome these guys to the band and hope you'll welcome them at Don's on Thanksgiving weekend. You can also click on the Bio page for more info.

the end of an era! - October 20, 2009

Well folks, all good things must come to an end and so must the days and nights of Tim Edwards playing lead guitar for the THB. After a seven year run as the band's original picker, Tim is moving on to play guitar for an up and coming country singer. The show will go on, so stay tuned here for news of his replacement and please join us for a farewell weekend at Don's Cocktail Lounge. Details on the calendar page.

We're now on Facebook - September 12, 2009

tulsa a huge success! - September 7, 2009

Well, the trip to Tulsa for GeezerFest IV went very well. The guys all had a great time and played for a very enthusiastic house, leaving them wanting more. Now back and looking forward to some big changes, you better come see the band very soon!

Into the basement... - August 8, 2009

The guys are taking a couple weeks off, with Taylor doing a couple solo shows to fill the loneliness. Gregg will be celegrating a birthday during this time, and some new song ideas will surely be tossed around. The party will reconvene at the Blarney Stone in El Cajon on the 21st, so be prepared to come out and help the band shake the dust off!

Summer rocks on.....! - July 23, 2009

Wow! Here it is almost August and the band just keeps rocking through the heat. Work in the studio continues and we still hope for a CD release soon! Hope to see you at your local bar very soon!

June is gonna rock! - June 9, 2009

June is here and the band is ready to rock in another great San Diego summer! Drum, bass and rhythm guitar tracks are done in the studio and lead guitar tracks get recorded this month, making the new CD very close to done! Check the calendar page for shows and check back here for more info.

A full may!!! - May 3, 2009

May is looking to be a busy month for the band, and they're all over the map! From El Cajon to Ramona to Coronado, they're going to be at a venue near you this month, so check the calendar page to find out where you can check them out! Friday night at the Blarney Stone saw some great friends come out and party with the band. Many thanks to Tamara and her crew! Saturday at Pal Joey's was a great night of music, dancing and more friends. Who'da thought Bob Zito and Sparkling Kelly would show up on the same night, not to mention the Cartright/Taylor clan, Debbie and the rest of the friends who came out! It was a great time and the band will be back there soon. Sunday at the Plank was awesome! Summer is back in convincing style and the dawgs and burgers are flying off the grill! Hope to see you soon.

That cheeseburgers will once again be available at The Plank in I.B. on Sunday afternoons. After several weeks of thinking they were installing a large shower stall, Big Al has let slip that burgers should be ready to be served this weekend! The most southwesterly food in the continental U.S!
